Most homeowners will deal with slow draining drains in their shower and sinks. It can be a frustrating problem, but there are a lot of solutions. You don’t need to call the plumber right away, either. This video shows a drain cleaning method for you to use even if you don’t have Draino.
The first thing to do is grab a screwdriver and some rubber or latex gloves. The inside of a drain can be dirty and you don’t want to handle the material that’s causing the clog with unprotected hands. Remove the drain cover and clean out the debris manually.
You can get a drain clearing tool that has a serrated edge. It will hook onto the debris that’s causing the clog and pull it out. Once you have cleaned out the worst of the debris, you can use baking soda and hot water to clear out the rest.
Simply grab a mixing cup, fill it with water, and pour in the baking soda. Mix it together and pour it down the drain. This will help clean out small pieces of debris you were unable to get with your drain clearing tool.
