On the Home Depot Channel on YouTube, they have a video called “How to Lay Pavers” for small and large projects. Preparation is the key to laying pavers or any stone patio at your home. You will need paper sand, a square shovel, a trowel, and a square spade.
First, you will dig the area with a shovel. Then, you will level the area with a trowel if it is not already level. The area must be level to put the pavers down correctly. When it is not level, the pavers can break and will not fit correctly. You use the trowel and level to make the dirt even and smooth. Another factor you should check is to see if water will flow towards the stone patio or away from it.
When the area is not level, you will add paper sand to level out the area to put the pavers in. The sand is made smooth using a level. The pavers are two inches thick, so the area must fit the thickness of the pavers. Later, you can put the pavers in to see how they fit. This is the preparation work that will make your project a perfect stone pathway or patio project.
