Three Reasons Why You May Need An Adjustable Bed

Adjustable beds

Sleep is something that everyone needs. At the same time, not all of us get the amount of sleep that is right for us. While the National Sleep Foundation reports that the average person needs seven to nine hours of sleep to be properly rested, only 56% of Americans say that they get the amount of sleep they need 43% say that they would feel a lot better if they got the amount of sleep necessary. Those numbers, of course, are regardless of how many hours of sleep the poll respondents actually get. The thing about sleep is that many of us think that we’re getting the sleep we need, when in fact we aren’t. You may feel rested when you initially wake, but if you’re getting less than the recommended amount of sleep eventually the effects will show. In fact, most people who get less than seven hours of sleep a night report unintentionally falling sleep at least one day a month. This can have a devastating effect; and even when it doesn’t, feeling tired on a regular basis is not something people should have to experience. A lack of undisturbed sleep can have an adverse effect on a person’s health, especially they’re already experiencing poor health. Adjustable mattresses can make a major difference in the lives of people experiencing poor sleep. With that being said, let’s look into the many reasons why you may want to look for adjustable mattresses.

1. Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is a major contributing factor to why many people don’t the amount of sleep that they need. Any kind of pain can contribute to your inability to rest. At the same time, a lack of good night’s sleep can exacerbate the pain you feel during the day and the night. This is because, very often, our poor sleep can be linked to an uncomfortable mattress. Sleeping in a bad position or in cool temperatures can increase muscle pain and joint pain. It can also increase the negative effects of mild arthritis. Adjustable mattresses can both change positions to accommodate your body — thus tempering muscle and joint pain — and change temperatures. The mild heat provided by adjustable mattresses can sooth the pain of those with mild arthritis, and stimulate proper blood flow. This can increase someone’s quality of life in a big way.

2. Snoring

You may be skeptical at the idea of an adjustable bed affecting snoring — how can that be? The fact is that snoring can be linked to a number of different sinus problems. And yes, the way you sleep — and in what position you sleep — can amplify or decrease your snoring. While you may not notice your snoring, the people you’re sleeping around will. Furthermore, some have reported being woken by their own snoring. Sleep with heavy snoring just isn’t the best option for anyone. Adjustable mattresses can assist in decreasing your snoring in a simple way. By sleeping upright, you can reduce and ease occasional snoring, leading to an overall better night’s sleep.

3. Incompatible Sleeping Habits In Couples

It’s very common for married or cohabitating couples to want to sleep in the same bed. Sleeping in the same bed can increase your level of bonding. It also tends to be more economical, as those who sleep in separate beds often have to sleep in separate rooms, as many bedrooms cannot accommodate two beds. But it’s difficult to sacrifice a good night’s sleep in order to sleep in the same bed as your partner. Often times, couples have different sleep needs, for health reasons or simply due to personal preference. You may like to sleep with a heated mattress while your partner prefers a cool mattress. You may need to sleep on an incline while your partner can’t stand it. An adjustable bed for couples often allows couples to adjust either side of the bed depending on their individual preferences. This means that everyone gets what they need.
